Recommendation:
The body can use all three types of fats, but the American Heart Association recommends that total fat be adjusted to fit each individual's caloric needs. People who are overweight or obese should limit their fat intake to no more than 30 percent of total calories.
• All healthy people should limit their intake of saturated fat to 8-10 percent of total calories each day.
• The American Heart Association recommends that you consume polyunsaturated fatty acids up to 10 percent of your total calories.
